Optimum soil temperature for seed germination is 65-75°F. Or, start seed indoors 4-8 weeks before transplanting into the garden. Harden off for 1 week prior to planting outside. Transplant to the garden 1-2 weeks after your average last frost. Plants are sensitive to transplant shock, so take care when transplanting.
