Mary Washington Heirloom Asparagus was released in 1919 and quickly became a very popular standard asparagus variety. Succulent and tasty spears. Productive plants that grow up to 12″ tall. A light crop for harvest in 2 years; regular cuttings thereafter. A long lasting perennial plant. Zones 3-8.
GROWING TIPS
Start seed indoors 10-14 weeks before last spring frost date. Optimum soil temperature for seed germination is 65-75 degrees. Seeds may take 6-8 weeks to germinate. Set transplants into trenches 5-8" deep in early spring after the danger of frost has passed. When starting from seed, 2-3 years may be required before asparagus can be harvested. Plants harvested too heavily to early can become weak and spindly.

I love Bucktown seeds because they’re quick and accurate with my orders. The site is user friendly and I will remain a customer as a SAHM gardener in Louisiana.
