HEIRLOOM, ORGANIC.

Florence fennel is an Italian heirloom with broad overlapping leaf bases that form large bulb-like enlargements at the base of the stem – giving it a celery-like stalk with a mild licorice flavor. The feathery dill-like leaves grow 3 ft. tall and make for a beautiful addition to any garden. Plants are tender perennials grown as annuals. 1g ~ 250 seeds.

Start seed indoors 4-6 weeks before transplanting into the garden. Optimum soil temperature for seed germination is 60-70 degrees. Transplant to the garden in mid-spring to late summer. Prefers well drained soil and a steady supply of water. Or, direct seed outdoors mid-spring through early summer. Tender perennial grown as an annual. Harvest dill-like leaves as a garnish and flavoring for soups, salads, and fish. Bulbous roots can be roasted, grilled or served raw. Stalks may be used as a celery substitute.
