HEIRLOOM, ORGANIC.
If you're looking for an heirloom summer squash that is as delicious as it is beautiful, look no further than the Early Golden Crookneck Squash. This variety of squash is believed to date back to colonial America, and was introduced to Thomas Jefferson by Philadelphia Quaker Timothy Matlock in 1807.
The Early Golden Crookneck Squash is easy to grow and thrives in warm weather and full sun. It does best in fertile, well-drained soil, and produces an abundance of fruit over the summer months. The squashes are golden in color and have a distinctive, crookneck shape. It is deliciously sweet and perfect for roasting, grilling, or sautéing. This squash is also an excellent source of vitamins A and C. Best picked small, 4-5" long. If left on the vine to fully mature the larger fruits will have a bumpy appearance and reach a hardened gourd stage.
