Garlic chives (Allium tuberosum), also known as Chinese leeks, form flat, strap-like leaves with a mellow garlic flavor—well suited to dumplings, eggs, and compound butters. Late summer brings starry white umbels that feed pollinators and reseed freely if you don’t deadhead. A source of vitamins A and C, garlic chives are perennial and cold hardy, returning early each spring.

Plant in sun and reasonably fertile soil; divide clumps every few years to keep them vigorous. Snip leaves often for the kitchen and you’ll never miss the store-bought bunches. A small patch gives you fresh, garlicky greens nearly all season.

Every order is packed with care by our small team in Pennsylvania and typically ships within 2–3 business days—often by the next business day. We ship throughout the United States using USPS and UPS.

Unopened items may be returned within 30 days of delivery. If an order arrives damaged, incomplete, or incorrect, please contact us so we can make it right.

Plant seeds directly into the garden around average last frost date. Optimum soil temperature for seed germination is 60-65°f. Or, start seed indoors 4-6 weeks before transplanting into the garden. Transplant to the garden around average last frost date in the spring. The flowers should be gathered just after they open to prolong blooming. Plants can be divided once they are established, around 3-4 years.
