Poppy
Poppies bring delicate petals, graceful stems, and memorable seed pods to cool-season gardens and bouquets. Choose breadseed, Shirley, California, perennial, and other forms for color, seed, naturalized plantings, or old-fashioned garden character.
Most poppies prefer direct sowing because their roots dislike disturbance. Sow in cool conditions, cover lightly, and allow some pods to mature if you want seed for baking, drying, or next year’s garden.
