Sunflowers
Sunflowers range from compact branching plants to towering single-stem giants, with blooms in gold, lemon, rust, burgundy, cream, and near-black. Grow them for bouquets, pollinators, edible seed, wildlife, shade, or a joyful garden landmark.
Direct sow after frost in full sun and choose spacing according to the variety’s mature size. Branching types benefit from regular cutting, while giant and seed-producing forms need room, strong roots, and time to mature.
