Dating back to the 1800s, the Marvel of Four Seasons stands as a French heirloom butterhead lettuce, known as Merveille de Quatre Saisons. Its striking green-to-ruby-red leaf transition and crisp, tender texture create an enticing rosette head perfect for culinary use. Renowned for its superior heat tolerance and versatility in yielding flavorful baby greens, this lettuce offers both historical significance and culinary flexibility. 1/2g ~ 500 seeds.

GROWING TIPS

Plant seeds directly into the garden starting 4 weeks before average last frost date or as soon as the soil can be worked. You can also start seeds indoors 2-4 weeks before transplanting. Optimum soil temperature for seed germination is 50-70 degrees. Lettuce seed does not germinate well if soil temperature is above 80 degrees. Resume planting in late summer for a fall harvest. Lettuce is cold tolerant and will tolerate light to moderate frosts. Succession plantings every at 2 weeks intervals will provide a steady supply.

Small, light-colored arugula leaves

Hi,
My arugula is up and already flowering. It’s a bit disappointing because the leaves are so small and not peppery and flavorful like I like arugula.
The lettuce is fine. I was hoping for a heartier lettuce - not so very delicate, though.
I’ll probably go with a different seed company next year.

Arugula thrives best when planted in cool weather, as it will not flourish well in heat and will bolt to seed quickly, resulting in a less than desirable harvest.
