Pacific Beauty calendula mixes gold, lemon, apricot, and cream double blooms on sturdy, branching plants—excellent for cutting, edging beds, or brightening winter salads with edible petals. Calendula has centuries of herbal use for soothing skin and minor wounds; ‘Pacific Beauty’ still carries resin for salves while packing serious color. It prefers cool weather, blooming hardest in spring and fall, then resting in high heat. Deadhead or harvest often and it rebounds quickly. Let a few heads seed for polite volunteers next year.

How to Grow

Plant seeds directly into the garden in the spring after the danger of frost has passed. Optimum soil temperature for seed germination is 65-75°f. Or, start seed indoors 3-5 weeks before transplanting into the garden. Transplant to the garden 1-2 weeks after your average last frost date. The flower petals are edible and the flowers make long-lasting cuttings. They are very easy to grow and will reseed profusely. To get the most out of your flowers, make successive sowings every 2-3 weeks throughout the summer.
