HEIRLOOM, ORGANIC.

Clemson Spineless is a standard variety in the South. Developed by the horticultural research department of Clemson University. It was first introduced in 1939 and has won an AAS award that same year. This variety is unique because it doesn't have the prickly thorns that are common on okra plants, making it much easier to harvest. Boasts creamy white flowers that also happen to be edible. Delicious addition to soups, stews, and relishes, and can be grilled, braised, steamed, and sautéed. Light green pods consist of 5–8 points. Best picked at 2-4". Plants grow to 4' tall. 2g ~ 35 seeds

Plant seed directly into the garden starting 1-3 weeks after average last frost date. Optimum soil temperature for seed germination is 65-85 degrees. When seedlings are 3" high, thin to final spacing. Okra is best when the fruit is tender and immature. Harvest when pods are 2-4" in length. Inspect and harvest at least every other day. Remove any over-mature fruit to encourage production of new flowers.
