Golden Wax—sometimes called ‘Goldilocks’—has been on American tables since the 1800s, prized for luminous yellow pods that stay tender past full size. Bush plants are tidy and early, making succession sowing easy. Wax beans bring the same protein and fiber punch as green beans, but their color stands out in jars and skillets alike. Direct sow after frost in warm soil and harvest often to keep plants producing. This is the wax bean your grandmother likely grew for reliability, flavor, and that cheerful glow in the basket.

Start seed outdoors after danger of frost has passed, usually 1-2 weeks after average last frost date. Inoculating seeds w/ nitrogen fixing-bacteria may increase yields in areas newly planted in beans. Optimum soil temperature for seed germination is 65-85 degrees. Wait until air & soil has warmed up in the spring. Seeds planted in cold soil can germinate slowly and rot. Bush beans usually provide one large harvest, with a 2nd smaller harvest a few weeks later. Can be planted again in mid-late summer for an autumn harvest.

Excited

Seeds came just like described! Looking forward to planting them in the greenhouse shortly and trying to dill some this summer!

I'm so happy to hear that your seeds arrived and you're excited for them! Thanks for the feedback Sam!

Somewhat Disappointing

Unfortunately, only two or three seeds germinated out of an entire package. However, the two or three plants produced a numerous amount of beans that had great flavor. I only wish more of the seeds germinated.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We apologize for the disappointment you faced with growing these beans. We're pleased to hear that the plants that did grow produced flavorful beans!! Please be assured that all our seeds undergo testing to meet or exceed federal standards. Our customer service team will be reaching out to you shortly to address this issue and make it right.
