Lemon Mint bee balm (Monarda citriodora) releases a citrus-mint scent when brushed and sends up stacked whorls of lavender flowers that hummingbirds and bees can’t resist. Native to the southern U.S., it thrives in heat and lean soil, reseeding lightly if you let seed heads stand.
Traditionally brewed as a calming, antimicrobial tea, it’s also a striking cut flower. Give it sun, moderate water, and space for air flow to avoid mildew.
