Purple Dark Opal - Organic Basil Seeds
🚚 FREE SHIPPING for all orders over $79!
Dark Opal basil is an heirloom AAS winner from 1962, grown for its deep purple leaves, pink flowers, and classic basil fragrance with a slightly spicy edge. The color is striking in beds and containers, especially beside green basil, golden calendula, or a bowl of fresh tomatoes.
Use the leaves fresh in salads, vinegars, garnishes, and sauces where their dramatic color can show. Regular cutting keeps plants leafy, while late-season flowers bring bees and make the herb garden look dressed for company.
Every order is packed with care by our small team in Pennsylvania and typically ships within 2–3 business days—often by the next business day. We ship throughout the United States using USPS and UPS.
Unopened items may be returned within 30 days of delivery. If an order arrives damaged, incomplete, or incorrect, please contact us so we can make it right.
We stand behind every packet we sell. Our seeds are carefully selected, tested for germination, untreated, and guaranteed to be true to variety.
Your seeds are covered for one year from the date of purchase. If they fail to germinate under reasonable growing conditions, arrive damaged, or do not grow true to type, contact us and we’ll make it right with a replacement, store credit, or refund.
Plant seeds directly into the garden starting 1-2 weeks after average last frost date, when air temperature is above 65°f. Optimum soil temperature for seed germination is 65-80°f. Or, start seed indoors 3-4 weeks before transplanting into the garden. Transplant to the garden 1-2 weeks after your average last frost date. You can keep plants from bolting by pinching back their flower stalks.
