This italian genovese basil boasts a distinctive aroma and flavor, making it a staple in many dishes. Its rich, dark green leaves are both edible and commonly used in recipes, including the popular pesto. As a versatile herb, it can be easily preserved by chopping and freezing, or grown in a sunny windowsill during colder months. This variety reaches a height of 18-24" and is relatively slow to bolt.

How to Grow

Plant seeds directly into the garden starting 1-2 weeks after average last frost date, when air temperature is above 65°f. Optimum soil temperature for seed germination is 65-80°f. Or, start seed indoors 3-4 weeks before transplanting into the garden. Transplant to the garden 1-2 weeks after your average last frost date. You can keep plants from bolting by pinching back their flower stalks.
