Forest Fire celosia burns bright with scarlet plumes that hold their shape and color through heat, humidity, and even drying. Celosia’s young leaves are eaten in parts of Africa and Asia, but here the drama is in the bloom. Long a favorite for dried wreaths and everlastings, it also feeds butterflies and beneficial insects when fresh. If your summer beds go flat, this variety brings vertical sparks, thriving where others stall. Harvest plumes for crafts or leave them to glow until frost.

Start seed indoors 6-8 weeks before transplanting into the garden. Optimum soil temperature for seed germination is 65-75
°F
. Cover soil very lightly as seeds require light to germinate. Harden off and transplant to the garden 1-2 weeks after your average last frost date. Prefers well-drained, fertile soil high in organic matter. Or, plant seeds directly in the garden after average last frost date for locations with a long growing season. Excellent for both fresh and dried cut flowers.
