Miss Jekyll love-in-a-mist is an heirloom nigella named for the great English garden writer Gertrude Jekyll. It sends soft blue flowers through a mist of finely cut foliage, followed by curious striped seed pods that dry beautifully for arrangements.

This annual is made for cottage gardens, cut flower patches, and self-sown corners where a little surprise is welcome. The airy leaves, delicate blooms, and lantern-like pods give three seasons of interest from one easy sowing.

Every order is packed with care by our small team in Pennsylvania and typically ships within 2–3 business days—often by the next business day. We ship throughout the United States using USPS and UPS.

Unopened items may be returned within 30 days of delivery. If an order arrives damaged, incomplete, or incorrect, please contact us so we can make it right.

Plant seeds directly in the garden early in the season after the soil can be worked, or after your average last frost date. Optimum soil temperature for seed germination is 60–65°F. Cover soil very lightly, as seeds require light to germinate. Or, start seed indoors 4–6 weeks before transplanting into the garden. Transplant carefully, as nigella is sensitive to root disturbance. Flowers attract bees as well as other beneficial insects. Succession sow every 2–3 weeks in spring for a longer season of blooms and pods.
