Black Eyed Susan - Rudbeckia Seeds
🚚 FREE SHIPPING for all orders over $79!
Black-eyed Susan (Rudbeckia hirta) is a North American native that carries golden petals around dark centers from midsummer to frost. Tough, drought tolerant, and beloved by pollinators, it also makes a sturdy cut flower.
Indigenous peoples used related species for teas and poultices; today gardeners value rudbeckia for resilience and late-season color. Direct sow or transplant starts, deadhead to extend bloom, and let a few seed for birds and next year’s volunteers. It’s a backbone plant that rarely asks for more than sun.
Every order is packed with care by our small team in Pennsylvania and typically ships within 2–3 business days—often by the next business day. We ship throughout the United States using USPS and UPS.
Unopened items may be returned within 30 days of delivery. If an order arrives damaged, incomplete, or incorrect, please contact us so we can make it right.
We stand behind every packet we sell. Our seeds are carefully selected, tested for germination, untreated, and guaranteed to be true to variety.
Your seeds are covered for one year from the date of purchase. If they fail to germinate under reasonable growing conditions, arrive damaged, or do not grow true to type, contact us and we’ll make it right with a replacement, store credit, or refund.
Plant seeds directly into the garden in spring after danger of frost has passed, or start seed indoors 5–8 weeks before transplanting into the garden. Optimum soil temperature for germination is 68–75°F. Surface sow or cover seed very lightly, as light aids germination. Transplant to the garden after your average last frost date. Prefers full sun and well-drained soil, but tolerates partial shade. Rudbeckia may self-sow readily. Flowers attract bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects.
