Brilliant blue flowers and decorative seed pods for fresh and dried bouquets. Fluffy 1 3/4–2", star-shaped blooms on stiff, 12–28" stems. Uniform, vigorous plants. Accented by attractive, ferny foliage. Whimsical purple and green, balloon-shaped seed pods dry readily/easily. Flowers attract and feed bees as well as other beneficial insects. 500 mg ~ 200 seeds.

GROWING TIPS

Plant seeds directly in the garden after average last frost date. Optimum soil temperature for seed germination is 60-75°F. Cover soil very lightly as seeds require light to germinate. Or, start seed indoors 4-6 weeks before transplanting into the garden. Transplant to the garden 1-2 weeks after your average last frost date. Nigella is sensitive to transplant shock so carefully set in the garden.

Growing didn't go to plan but it's growing

my nigella seeds took a long time to sprout, but once they did they have been incredibly reliable. I have had a hard time this season because frost came early, but the nigellas continue to grow, even inside. Really love them!

When I read on line it read Nigella were Perennials. Then when I received the seed the directions To start growing them inside and then plant them after the frost. This tells me they are not perennials they are annuals? So I guess I can only enjoy one season of them?

Our seed packets and website listing both indicate that this is an annual. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused.
