HEIRLOOM.

Roman Chamomile, a low, spreading plant with creeping rhizomes, holds a lengthy history as both a medicinal herb and an ornamental ground cover. Its dried flower heads can be used to create a calming herbal tea. This aromatic, perennial ground cover is resilient to light foot traffic, featuring lacy, fern-like foliage that releases a fruity scent when stepped on. Resembling German Chamomile in appearance and purpose, Roman Chamomile distinguishes itself as a perennial, thriving in USDA zones 4 to 10. Its daisy-like flowers, with white petals and yellow centers, bloom from summer through early fall. 300mg ~ 2000 seeds.

Start seed indoors 4-6 weeks before transplanting into the garden. Optimum soil temperature for seed germination is 65-85 degrees. Transplant to the garden after your average last frost date. Or, plant seeds directly in the garden 1-2 weeks after average last frost date. Sow thickly, thinning to a group of 2-3 plants every 8". Chamomile self-sows readily. Harvest flowers when petals are expanding. Dry on a screen in a cool, dark & ventilated area. Or, hang upside down for drying.
