Garden thyme (Thymus vulgaris) forms a low, woody mat of tiny leaves loaded with savory, pine-citrus flavor—the backbone of bouquet garni, roasted vegetables, and marinades. A source of thymol, it’s long been used as an antiseptic and cough soother. Plants crave sharp drainage and full sun; think rock wall cracks and herb spirals, not soggy beds.

Shear lightly after bloom to keep cushions tight, and harvest sprigs anytime, though oils peak just before flowering. Dry bunches for winter stews or infuse in honey for a soothing spoonful. A small patch pays culinary dividends for years. Average 99,000 seeds/oz.

Every order is packed with care by our small team in Pennsylvania and typically ships within 2–3 business days—often by the next business day. We ship throughout the United States using USPS and UPS.

Unopened items may be returned within 30 days of delivery. If an order arrives damaged, incomplete, or incorrect, please contact us so we can make it right.

Start seed indoors 8–10 weeks before transplanting into the garden. Sow seeds on the surface and cover very lightly with soil mix. Optimum soil temperature for germination is 65–70°F. Transplant outdoors after your average last frost date. Thyme grows best in full sun and well-drained soil. Once established, it prefers drier conditions and should not be kept overly wet. Harvest stems as needed once plants are well established. For best flavor, harvest just before flowering and trim regularly to encourage bushy growth.
