Muncher lives up to its name—smooth, nearly spineless cucumbers with thin skins and sweet crunch, perfect fresh or for refrigerator pickles. Vines are vigorous but not wild, and fruits are best at 5–6 inches. Cucumbers hydrate and provide silica; this one provides snacks kids actually eat. Trellis for straight fruit and easy picking, and water consistently to avoid bitterness.

How to Grow

Plant seeds directly in the garden in the spring after the danger of frost has passed, roughly 1-2 weeks after the average last frost date and when daytime temps are near 70°f. Sow 5-6 seeds per hill and thin to 2-3 plants. Optimum soil temperature for seed germination is 65-80 degrees. For transplants, start seed indoors 3-4 weeks before transplanting into the garden. Transplant to the garden 2-3 weeks after your average last frost date. Harvest when small & pick daily. Mature cucumbers on the vine slow production of new fruit.
