GROWING TIPS

Plant a group of 3 seeds every 6" directly in the garden 4-6 weeks before your average last frost date. Optimum soil temperature for seed germination is 55-65°F. Or, start seed indoors 4-6 weeks before transplanting into the garden. Transplant to the garden around your average last frost date. Trellis support may be needed. Sweet peas grow best in the spring and regions with cool summers. Does not do well in hot, humid summers. Cut frequently and remove spent blossoms to encourage new growth. Mulching can help to keep the soil cool and provide good air circulation. Caution: The seeds, pods and plants are toxic if ingested.
