Crested Mix celosia forms bold, brainy combs in reds, oranges, and golds that hold their shape and color whether fresh or dried. A tropical annual from Africa and Asia, celosia’s young leaves are eaten as “soko” in parts of West Africa, though these forms are mainly ornamental.
Heat and humidity barely slow it down. Cut the crests for dried wreaths or leave them to feed bees at the open florets. If you need durable, sculptural color when the heat sets in, crested celosia does it better than most.
