Helen Mount blooms are fragrant and appear very early in the season. May reseed. Perfect for planting in a rock garden or wild garden. 1–2" tricolor flowers in purple, yellow, and white.  Also known as pansy, heart's ease, Johnny jump-up, and European field pansy. Perennial in zones 4–9. Edible flowers.

Start seed indoors 8-10 weeks before transplanting into the garden. Optimum soil temperature for seed germination is 60-75°F. Transplant to the garden 1-2 weeks after your average last frost date. Or, plant seeds directly in the garden after average last frost date. Perennial in zones 4–9; often grown as an annual. Self-seeding variety.
