Looking for a bean that is both delicious and nutritious? Look no further than the light red kidney bean! This versatile legume is a staple in many North American dishes and is perfect for adding a hearty, healthy boost to any meal. Each pod of the red kidney bean contains approximately 5 large, red beans that are shaped like kidneys. These bush beans are perfect for using in soups, stews, chili, and even salads. They are also a great addition to rice dishes and make a delicious side dish when cooked with some spices. Not only are red kidney beans delicious, but they are also packed with nutrients. They are a good source of fiber, protein, and iron. 18g ~ 35 seeds.

GROWING TIPS

Start seed outdoors after danger of frost has passed, usually 1-2 weeks after average last frost date. Inoculating seeds w/ nitrogen fixing-bacteria may increase yields in areas newly planted in beans. Optimum soil temperature for seed germination is 65-85 degrees. Wait until air & soil has warmed up in the spring. Seeds planted in cold soil can germinate slowly and rot. For dried beans, harvest a few weeks after normal picking time when the pods are thick, well-filled and dry. For shelled beans, pick individual pods when the green beans inside are plump.
