Red Russian - Kale Seeds - Organic
HEIRLOOM, ORGANIC.
Red Russian kale is a hearty, nutrient-rich heirloom vegetable that traces its origins to Russian traders who came to North America in the 1880s. Dark green and oak leaf-shaped, this veggie may be richer in vitamins and minerals than other greens. The red and purple hues of the leaves intensify after fall frosts, making it an attractive addition to any garden. Red Russian kale is very tender and sweet when cooked, but can also be eaten raw. It's one of the most disease resistant crops around, so you'll have plenty to enjoy all season long! 500mg ~ 150 seeds.
GROWING TIPS
Plant seeds directly into the garden starting 4-6 weeks before average last frost date continuing until about that date. You can also start seeds indoors 5-7 weeks before transplanting. Optimum soil temperature for seed germination is 45-80 degrees. Kale is a cool season crop so avoid letting it mature in hot weather. High temperatures slow plant growth and make the leaves tough and bitter. Grow it in the spring, then again in the fall. Frost can improve the flavor.
