White Sweet Alyssum, a valuable addition to any garden, boasts a detailed profile that caters to both aesthetics and ecological balance. This low-growing and fast-growing plant serves as an ideal ground cover with delicate white blooms. White Sweet Alyssum plays a crucial role in promoting biodiversity by providing a reliable food source for beneficial insects, attracting lacewings, parasitic wasps, syrphid flies, and tachinid flies. Tender perennial in zones 9-11.
GROWING TIPS
Start seed indoors 3-5 weeks before transplanting into the garden. Sow several seeds per pot and cover soil very lightly as seeds require light to germinate. Harden off and transplant to the garden after your average last frost date. Or, plant seeds directly in the garden as soon as the soil can be worked in the spring. For warmer climates, sow mid-summer to late-winter for blooms lasting until summer of following year. Excellent for attracting pollinators and beneficial insects. Suitable for container growing. Perennial in zones 9-11.
