🚚 FREE SHIPPING for all orders over $99!
Black Mammoth is a towering sunflower known for its dense heads packed with rich black seeds. Blooms can reach up to 12 inches across, perched on strong stalks that grow 10 feet tall or more. It’s a bold, functional variety—great for feeding birds, saving seed, or adding a striking vertical element to the garden. Originally bred for seed yield, it still turns heads with its sheer scale. Plant in full sun and give it room to stretch—this one’s made for the back row.
Plant seeds directly in the garden after average last frost date when soil has warmed up. Optimum soil temperature for seed germination is 60-75°f. Succession plantings can be made every 1-2 weeks for continued harvest. Or, start seed indoors 3-5 weeks before transplanting into the garden. Transplant to the garden 1-2 weeks after your average last frost date. Sunflower is sensitive to transplant shock so carefully set in the garden.
