Winter Squash
Winter squash is grown for mature, firm-rinded fruits that carry the garden into colder months. Acorn, butternut, delicata, hubbard, kabocha, crookneck, and heirloom types offer different textures, sweetness, storage life, and kitchen use.
Sow after the soil is warm, give vines generous room, and allow fruits to mature fully before harvest. Cure sound squash in a warm, airy place, then store according to the variety.
