Meet the Purple Top White Globe Turnip – an heirloom turnip that's been around since 1890! This turnip is known for its uniform 6 inch smooth white globes, sweet mild taste, and fine-grained texture. It grows best when roots are 3-4 inches in size. The large leafy tops make great greens! Bears fruit longer than most other turnips, making it a great choice for your garden. Best of all? This turnip stores well, so you can enjoy it all season long! 1g ~ 250 seeds.
Turnips develop the best quality bulbs when grown in the cool weather of early spring or late fall. Plant seeds directly into the garden starting 4-6 weeks before average last frost date. Optimum soil temperature for seed germination is 50-70 degrees. Sow thickly, then thin to 3-6" apart when leaves are about 4" high. This will be your first harvest of turnip greens. Grow again in the fall, roughly 4-6 weeks before your average first frost. Harvest roots when the are 2-3" in diameter.

Thank you for your review of our Purple Top White Globe Turnip seed, Thelma! We're so happy to hear that you enjoyed planting them in your garden and that you found them refreshing. We hope you'll plant them again in the springtime!
It's a VERY long story but I ordered seeds for my Dad, who uses a walker to move, did not prepare to plant. So some we will plant in the fall and others shortly.
