HEIRLOOM, ORGANIC.

Bean Royalty Purple Pod is a beautiful and delicious heirloom seed variety. Bred by the late Elwyn Meader at the University of New Hampshire and introduced in 1957. Its flowers, foliage, and pods are a bright purple - making it stand out in any garden. The slightly curved pods are 5 to 6 inches long and completely string-less. When cooked, the bright purple pods turn green - adding an extra bit of color to your plate. This variety is excellent for garden & container growing as the plants grow to 15-20" tall. 12g ~ 35 seeds.

GROWING TIPS

Start seed outdoors after danger of frost has passed, usually 1-2 weeks after average last frost date. Inoculating seeds w/ nitrogen fixing-bacteria may increase yields in areas newly planted in beans. Optimum soil temperature for seed germination is 65-85 degrees. Wait until air & soil has warmed up in the spring. Seeds planted in cold soil can germinate slowly and rot. Pole beans provide many small harvests through most of the summer. Bush beans usually provide one large harvest, with a 2nd smaller harvest a few weeks later.
