Cactus Mix zinnia sports quilled, twisted petals that give each bloom a spiky, fireworks look in bold reds, oranges, pinks, and yellows. Tall, branching plants pump out stems for cutting, and butterflies flock to the open centers. Zinnias trace to Mexico and the Southwest, valued for heat tolerance and non-stop bloom. Deadhead or harvest often and they keep producing until frost. If you want texture and color that read from across the yard and hold in the vase, cactus zinnias are an easy win.

Plant seeds directly in the garden after average last frost date when soil has warmed up. Optimum soil temperature for seed germination is 70-90°f. Or, start seed indoors 3-4 weeks before transplanting into the garden. Transplant to the garden 2 to 3 weeks after your average last frost. A week before transplanting time, harden off plants by exposing them to an increasing number of hours outdoors each day. Requires full sun and well drained soil. Cut back old blossoms to encourage new growth.
